A unique environment for future innovation

The development arena Produktionstekniskt Centrum in Trollhättan has a unique edge with more breadth than the Royal Institute of Technology and Chalmers combined. Join us and learn about an arena, orchestrated by Innovatum Science Park and University West, where companies, students and researchers from all over the world gather for innovation and research.

Bringing the world together around sustainable industrial development

In the first of four films, which together describe the role that PTC plays for startups, researchers, students and established companies, Linda and Tommy talk about the world-leading research at PTC and a unique environment that contributes to the development of sustainable industry. An important part of the environment is the network and collaboration, as well as the competencies that are represented.

-"It is an environment where you can help each other achieve success," says Tommy. It is the large mix of individuals in the environment that leads to a positive and sustainable development in Sustainable Industry.

Hear Linda Bohlin Trajkovski, CEO of Innovatum Science Park, and Tommy Christensen, Director of the PTC, talk about the expertise and innovative production technology solutions that can be found here.

The film is produced together with Innovatum District - one of Sweden's foremost meeting places and a leading development center for growth, research and experiences.

The template for GKN Aerospace's new global research centers

GKN Aerospace is the most important player from the business community in the Production Technology Center. For GKN, PTC has become an inspiration and role model when the global group establishes new research centers around the world and it is the unique collaboration between academia, small companies and large companies that is the starting point. It is precisely the interaction with the smaller companies with cutting-edge expertise and University West that provides unique advantages.

Meet GKN Aerospace's head of research Henrik, who talks about lightweight research and how the dynamics that PTC offers have been an inspiration and template for new global research centers in the US, England and the Netherlands.

Research and education in parallel

Today, around 80 people from University West are based at the Production Technology Center and work in collaboration with companies to find new solutions. At the same time, education is conducted and both students and professionals come here and learn the latest about, for example, Industry 4.0 or 3D printing.

It has an international appeal with as many as 25 different nationalities represented. When hungry students, experienced professors and companies that are highly competent in their fields meet, exciting things happen that lead to new knowledge. Smarter automation and more efficient sustainable manufacturing methods are the main tracks at the Production Technology Center.

Listen to Lennart Malmsköld, responsible for University West's research program Primus, talk about the Production Technology Center's fantastic journey from the start to where we are today.

An environment for businesses to develop

For companies and startups, the Production Technology Center is an environment with opportunities for both product development and collaboration with other companies, such as GKN. There is equipment and knowledge to develop and evaluate, for example, material properties or process problems.

-"Hopefully, the collaborations will give birth to significantly more future projects together where the utilization of hardware and human resources and cooperation can be expanded," says Fredrik Ohlsson, product development manager for Oxeon AB.

In the last film in the series about the Production Technology Center, you will meet Procada AB, a start-up company, and Elikomposit AB and Oxeon AB, two small companies that have taken advantage of and developed through the unique opportunities offered by the Production Technology Center.
