The test and demo environment Produktionstekniskt Centrum, abbreviated to PTC, was launched in 2008 as an initiative between Innovatum Science Park, University West, the former Volvo Aero and SAAB to increase innovation capacity, develop production technology solutions and give SMEs access to advanced equipment.
Today, the arena is run by the main parties Innovatum Science Park, University West, GKN Aerospace, IUC West and Swerim, and another ten companies are active parties.
Through its involvement in PTC GKN Aerospace access to equipment and a close contact with other actors operating in the same technology areas. This raises the level of investment in research and development and creates conditions for competence building and recruitment.
For University West PTC is an arena for research collaboration and education. Experimental research is made possible by access to relevant equipment and the network ensures that the content meets the needs of industry.
I Innovatum Science Park's s mission as a science park, PTC is the arena where companies and academia work together to develop technology and methods, increase competence, attract competence and create new business opportunities.
IUC West sees PTC as an opportunity for its member companies to meet experts and other companies and thus develop their company, products and strengthen their competitiveness.
Through its involvement in the PTC Swerim increase collaboration with the region's companies and University West to achieve maximum industrial benefit.

What is a test and demo environment?
According to the Swedish innovation agency Vinnova, a test and demo environment, or test bed as it is also called, is a physical or virtual environment where companies, academia and other organizations can collaborate in the development, testing and introduction of new products, services, processes or organizational solutions in selected areas.
