React PTC

React PTC is a project where the partners of the Production Technology Center (PTC) develop new methods and approaches, as well as upgrade the arena, to provide SMEs with access to equipment and knowledge for a more efficient and sustainable manufacturing industry.

The manufacturing industry, especially the engineering industry, is an important industry for Region Västra Götaland. As in other areas of industry, a fourth industrial revolution is underway. The changes are characterized by rapid technological development, automation, connectivity and more efficient handling of information and data.

To be able to integrate and develop new manufacturing methods and thus maintain the competitiveness of the West Swedish manufacturing industry, after the Covid-19 downturn, the industry needs access to knowledge and equipment. The React PTC project makes such resources available within the open arena of the Production Technology Center in Trollhättan.

At the Production Technology Center, several projects are underway to strengthen the skills of different target groups in this area. With everything from specialized processes where development takes place around the aerospace industry of the future with lighter and carbon-neutral combustion engines, to strengthening the skills of small and medium-sized enterprises. By raising the baseline for the level of competence in the region, the conditions are created to raise the level in the long term and maintain what has made Region Västra Götaland successful - sustainable growth in line with a high degree of innovation, both technical and environmental.

React PTC contains three work packages

An accessible PTC

Aims to develop and demonstrate PTC's ability to support SMEs' development work in areas that are relevant to PTC, such as additive manufacturing and production of composite components. In this work package, we give SMEs the opportunity to use PTC's various resources at very low or no cost. Based on these experiences, we will update PTC's working methods.

A better equipped PTC

Aims to update the PTC's equipment to remain a strong arena for research and development, including a 3D printer for additive manufacturing in metal.

An attractive PTC for all

Aims to increase the recruitment base to the industrial areas available at the PTC. Here we will work on issues and activities to increase the number of people applying for the professions that are relevant to the manufacturing industry.
