WAAMLABZ joins PTC – advancing WAAM (wire arc additive manufacturing), and new business models
PTC (Production Technology Center) is proud to welcome a new strategic partner: WAAMLABZ – a Nordic provider of complete thermal WAAM-systems and a specialist in process expertise for component manufacturing. With a strong focus on innovation and close collaboration with key partners, WAAMLABZ is currently developing its own WAAM robotic cell to meet industry demands for quality, efficiency, and flexibility.
“For us, it’s all about combining advanced technology with smart workflows. Our recipe files enable automated manufacturing across multiple sites, enhancing both quality and efficiency,” says Eivind Vogel-Rödin, CEO of WAAMLABZ.
Additive manufacturing for tomorrow’s industry
WAAMLABZ sees significant potential in wire arc additive manufacturing, particularly within the defense and aerospace sectors. The demand for on-demand production is growing, but strict certification requirements mean the transition takes time.
Marine innovation with ZULU Marine
In the marine sector, WAAMLABZ is collaborating with ZULU Marine to develop advanced propeller solutions for high-speed boats. With a strong background in composite manufacturing, ZULU Marine is at the forefront of building high-performance vessels for private clients, racing teams, and police/military use.
“There’s a clear trend toward faster boats. By using advanced materials for propellers and additive manufacturing, we can improve both durability and performance combined with endless design optimizations,” explains Vogel-Rödin.
Strategic partnership with PTC
Joining PTC marks a strategic step for WAAMLABZ.
“We view PTC as a central hub for advanced robotic additive manufacturing in metal for Swedish industry and a catalyst for innovation. It offers the right environment, expertise, and network to take our ideas further. We’re excited to contribute to collaborative projects and solutions,” says Vogel-Rödin.
With WAAMLABZ onboard, PTC further strengthens its position as a world-leading ecosystem for additive manufacturing and robotic production technologies.
